Field1st was founded by people who worked in high-hazard field operations and watched good safety programs fail — not because anyone stopped caring, but because the tools were never built for the field. We're building the platform we wished we'd had: voice-first, AI-native, and made for the people doing the work, not the people reporting on it.

HOW IT STARTED
It Started In the Field.
Field1st began with nine months alongside the safety organization at Dominion Energy. We didn't start by designing software. We started by watching the work: crews in gloves and weather, filling out paper tailboards at the tailgate, back-filling checklists at the end of the day, funneling everything into four, five, sometimes seven disconnected systems that never talked to each other.
What we saw wasn't a people problem. Crews cared. Supervisors cared. The problem was the tools. Legacy safety software had simply digitized paper and called it progress, then asked the field to do more admin, not less. So the field did what any busy person does with a tool that slows them down. They rushed it — and the data those decisions were built on was quietly broken.
So we built the opposite of what existed. A worker talks through the job, or takes a photo, and the record writes itself. AI flags the hazard and shows the fix. The 45-minute pencil-whipping session becomes under a minute of data a leader can actually trust.
